In loving memory ~
A man who loved life, a very kind, patient, gentle, caring man, husband, father, deda and charismatic friend. A true gentleman.
A skilled millwright/ machinist he worked in Fording River mine, Kassiar, Revelstoke, Vancouver and other locations in BC. He retired from Teck Cominco as a heavy duty mechanic. He continued on to the Waneta Dam Expansion for a short period thereafter.
He enjoyed reading books, magazines, literature of all sorts. He always enjoyed the company of his friends. He was always outside, taking pride in his yard and garden and going on walks. Mostly enjoying his family adventures, traveling, being on his boat or "tinkering" with his cars which he took pride in. That's when he swept Sarah's feet away with his charm. Together being blessed with two children, one of which (Misha Saliken) welcomed Peter with open arms in Heaven.
This amazing man was always open to anyone in guiding, teaching or helping at any moment called upon.
Peter is survived by his wife Sarah Saliken (nee Kabatoff), Daughter Reena Christiansen, Mitchell Christiansen, Grandson Nolan Christiansen. Sister Nina Grey and children Brian (Rylee), Jennifer (Hayden) and numerous relatives.
The family would like to thank Castlegar Ambulance, Robson Fire Department, Castlegar Emergency Department Staff, Trail Hospital Staff, Nelson Hospital 3rd floor medical - Dr. Kevin McKechnie and Dr. Brandan Grout for the tremendous compassion and care.
Words can not express how much love this community has given the family through your condolences; we are extremely appreciative. Please take care of your health and one another.
May he rest in peace.
Peter has requested no funeral service.
