Polly "Elsie" Nevakshonoff (née Argatoff)

In loving memory ~

It is with great sadness that the family of Polly "Elsie" Nevakshonoff (née Argatoff) announce her passing on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the age of 89.

Elsie was born in 1934 in Brilliant BC. On December 12, 1953, she married George Nevakshonoff and raised their 3 children in Castlegar BC.

Elsie worked for Bonnets Men's Wear for many years, then in 1992 she graduated from the Selkirk College Culinary program. She was a long-time member of the Castlegar Golf course and golfed with the Tuesday lady's morning group. Elsie was a member of the USCC Kootenay Ladies Association and was involved in bread making for many years.

Between working and golfing, Elsie maintained her yard and her incredible garden along with her beloved blueberry bushes and fruit trees. She was also a very talented seamstress and taught her daughters the joy of sewing at a very young age.

Elsie always enjoyed a good road trip. No trip was complete without a cooler full of hard-boiled eggs, cucumbers, cheese and tomatoes and her favourite Oh Henry chocolate bars. Elsie enjoyed trips to Halifax, Quebec City and a road trip within Ontario. Elsie especially loved going to Maui to see all the flowers and fauna.

Elsie will be lovingly remembered by her children, Susan (partner Greg), Kathy (Lloyd), and Michael (Lisa); grandchildren, Leigha (Paul), Kevin (Trisha ), Jason (Simone), Holly (Tim), Rachel (Mike), Ryan, and Travis (Taylor); great-grandchildren, Kyra, Ellise, Brooklyn, Linden, Cadence, Xander, Jacob, Hayden, Bodhi, Willow, and Hawkley; brother in law, Fred (Maxine) and numerous other family members and friends.

Elsie was predeceased by her husband George G Nevakshonoff; her parents, William W and Mary W (Maloff) Argatoff; her siblings and their spouses, Vera (Fred) Philipoff, Gertrude (Walter) Lebedoff, Mary (Paul) Danshin and Fred W Argatoff; brother in law, William (Satch) Nevakshonoff, and son in law Bob W Argotoff.

The family would like to extend gratitude to the paramedics, first responders, and medical staffof the Trail Hospital for their care of Elsie

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at the Brilliant Cultural Center at 2:00pm.
