March 15, 1932 - June 13, 2018
Polly took her last breath on June 13, 2018 at The Talarico Place in Castlegar, BC. Polly was born on March 15, 1932 in Glade, BC to William and Mary Legebokoff. As a teenager, Polly worked with her mother and sister picking fruit at the orchards in the Okanagan Valley and Wynndel, BC and in the fruit cannery in Summerland, BC. Throughout her whole life, Polly enjoyed tending to her extensive garden and cooking, baking and canning the fresh fruit and vegetables that she grew.
Polly married John Postnikoff in December 1958 until his death in 1972. Polly never remarried and raised her two children, working as a baker at the Central Food Mart and the Plaza Bakery in Castlegar. Polly always had a passion for baking and will be remembered for her impeccable baked goods. Upon retirement, Polly took great joy in being able to help raise her only grandchild.
Polly will be remembered and missed by her son John Postnikoff (Patchy), daughter Lorraine Barisoff (Nick), granddaughter Linnea Barisoff, sister Anne Hadikin (John) and nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Polly's family would like to thank the staff at The Talarico Place for the care, attention and kindness that Polly received during her stay, Bill Strilaeff and the staff at the Castlegar Funeral Chapel for their compassionate help in preparing funeral arrangements, The Little Bear Golf Course for a delicious meal, Kootenay Floral for their beautiful flower arrangements, the Glade Cemetery workers and our family and friends.
Because of her love for animals, donations in her memory can be made to the BC SPCA or the ISKRA, at your choice.
