In Loving Memory ~

Rudy was born in Trail on May 21, 1932. As a young boy, the family moved to Castlegar where he was raised and resided his entire life. Rudy passed away peacefully at the age of 92 in Trail Hospital on January 21, 2025.

After high school, Rudy attended Radio Training in Calgary, which sparked a lifelong interest. He returned to Castlegar and loved working on the tugboats up and down the Arrow Lakes. He was hired by Celgar in 1962, where he earned his trade as a pipefitter then later became a Mechanical Supervisor. He often spoke fondly of his years with his crews.

Rudy was a King Scout and was often found near a lake camping and fishing with family and friends. He was President of Minor Hockey, was on staff with the Castlegar Rebels, and served as President of the local PPWC. Rudy was President of the local Amateur Ham Radio Club and was an active member until recently.

He made many lasting friendships with the other Ham Radio Operators. Via Ham Radio, Rudy contacted people from all over the world, including the Space Shuttle. Rudy was proficient in Morse Code and always enjoyed the latest technology and the challenge of fixing almost anything.

Rudy is survived by his son Brett (Ronnalee), daughter Sharleen (Al), son Clay (Stacie), and son Darcy (Toni), along with 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandsons. Rudy was sadly predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy, and sons Randy and Lee.

At Rudy's request, there will be a small family gathering in lieu of a service. The family greatly appreciated the genuine care he received from neighbors and Doctors Charmin, Hamilton, and Larocque. Rudy will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
