January 30, 1946 - May 15, 2024

Loving husband, father, and grandfather, Russil Rilcof, passed away peacefully at his home in South Surrey at the age of 78 with his wife Pat of 55 years by his side. He was born in Kamsack SK to Jon and Diane and moved to Winnipeg MB for his high school years. This was where he developed his love for sports and athletics, especially football. After high school graduation his family headed west and settled in Richmond BC.

Russil worked for many years in his father's painting and drywall business while studying at UBC to be a teacher. Upon graduation with a bachelor's degree in physical education, he married Patricia, and they started their family together. They lived briefly in Sydney BC, before spending time in Prince Rupert, where he opened a Mr. Mike's restaurant and continued his teaching career. In 1979 he accepted the role as a teacher in Castlegar BC where he made his home for the next 30 years. Russil earned his master's degree of Education from Gonzaga University and enjoyed a long career as school administrator until his retirement in 2001.

Russil was a wonderful father who passed on his love of sports to his sons. A natural teacher and communicator with a passion for passing on his knowledge; he was involved in their youth sports and coached countless school teams as well. He also served as President of the Castlegar Rebels Junior Hockey Club and organized bingo fundraisers for the club.

In retirement he liked curling and skiing, but he loved nothing more than spending time with his friends and wife as a member of the Castlegar Golf Club. In 2009, he moved to South Surrey to be closer to his family, he golfed regularly and spent time with his wife, sons, and grandkids. Family was everything to Russil, which is evident in all the cherished memories he leaves behind for his loved ones. He was a kind, gentle, loving man that had a positive influence on the lives of all the people he touched. He greeted everyone with a warm smile and will be missed by all that knew him and loved him.

Russil is predeceased by his parents Jon, Diane, and sister Luby. He leaves behind wife Patricia, sons Kevan (Pauline) Kaiya and Jalen, Dustin, Kristy's mother Violet and Shilo and brother Kurtis.
