It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Sandra on July 23, 2016 at the age of 52 years young. On March 1, 1964 Sandra was born in Halifax, NS. In 1976 Sandra and her family moved to Castlegar, BC. Sandra graduated from SHSS, while in high school she was chosen to be a Member of the BC Youth Parliament an accomplishment she and her family were very proud of. She attended Selkirk College and became a Long Term Care Aide. Sandra was predeceased by her mother Carol Churches in 2009. She is survived by her sons Kyle and Aaron Roos the loves of her life and their father Ed Roos, her father Radcliffe Churches and her siblings Cindy Racich (Lanny), Christine (Brian Murphy), Diana, Cliffe (Sharon), her nieces, nephews and her very adored great nieces and nephews, and many aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as her boyfriend Mike Carr and her best friend Harmony her dog. Sandra was a beloved employee at Color Me Mine and loved by all the staff and customers young and old. She was a proud member of the CMHA Wellness Development Center where she spent many hours enjoying the activities with the staff and friends. The Centre’s art program was one of Sandra’s favourite activities, entering the Annual Art Gala and being ecstatic when her painting was purchased. Sandra had an amazing sense of humor, an infectious personality that drew people to her wherever she went leading to many forever friendships. Making people laugh was a true joy, telling jokes and being witty to see a smile. She loved singing karaoke, her voice was beautiful. A strong, courageous fighter who overcame many obstacles in her short life and was a great inspiration to others. When Sandra set her mind to something she was determined to accomplish it! She ran a half marathon and was truly one of Sandra’s proud life moments. Meeting Richard Simmons and creating lifelong friends on the Cruise to Lose was a real inspiration to her. Sandra passed at a happy time in her life, with so many positive things happening for her.
