Soukeroff, Sandra


It is with great sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of Sandra Soukeroff of Castlegar, BC. Her 11 month battle with cancer ended on February 26, 2009 at the Kootenay Lake Hospital, Nelson, BC with her family by her side.


Sandra is survived by the love of her life, Rob McDonald, her two beautiful daughters, Lindsay and Kimberly, and her precious cat, Tasha.

Her parents, Pete and Molly Soukeroff, Brothers, Eli (Gail), Craig (Sandra), Dale (Tracy), all of Winlaw, Sisters, Nadine (Andy) Evin, Shoreacres, and Eleanor Soukeroff (Wally) Malakoff, Crescent Valley

Nieces & Nephews, Karen (Cam) Sookro, and their 2 sons, Blair & Bryce, Tracy (Kevin) Koorbatoff and their 2 daughters Savannah, and Olivia. Alex and Alison Evin, Alyse and Andrea Soukeroff, Sheldon & Brooklyn Malakoff, Brandon and Hayley Soukeroff.


Sandra was born in Nelson, on August 20, 1964 to Pete and Molly Soukeroff of Winlaw, BC. She was their fifth child and their third daughter. Sandra attended the local Winlaw Elementary School and WE Graham High School, in Slocan, BC. Graduating from Mt. Sentinel Secondary School. After graduation Sandra worked in various local jobs. She went back to school and received her certificate for Medical Transcriptionist. In the past Sandra worked for Castleview, Jubilee Manor, Mt. St. Francis, Willow Haven, and Poplar Ridge. She was employed with Interior Health in Trail Regional Hospital in Medical Records at the time of her illness. Sandra tried to live a healthy active life, riding a bike, going for walks, or just relaxing by her favourite spot at the beach. Sandra lived each day with extreme positive attitude, enormous grace and dignity.


We would like to thank Dr. P. Malpass, Dr. A. Kirsten, and all the nursing staff on the 2nd & 3rd floors at the Kootenay Lake Hospital for their compassionate care for Sandra.


A Traditional Service was held at Winlaw Hall On Tuesday March 3rd, 2009 from 7:00 to 9:00pm, and Wednesday March 4th, 2009 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.

A Graveside Service followed at Perry’s Siding.


Memorial Donations, in Sandra’s memory may be made directly to the B.C. Cancer Foundation, c/o Rose Stoesz, 399 Royal Avenue, Kelowna, B.C. V1Y 5L3.
