Serge was lovingly raised on a farm in Proctor, B.C., by his grandparents and 3 uncles. Serge married Vi Makaeff in 1958 and settled in Castlegar where they raised their two sons. For over 25 years, Serge was the co-owner and Sales Manager of CKQR radio station in Castlegar and was an original member of the Doukhobour Cultural Association. He was an avid fisherman of Kootenay Lake and enjoyed socializing with family and many friends. Serge loved playing music and singing. He received his first guitar at age 10 and began composing songs. For over 70 years Serge wrote, performed, and recorded his music in Western Canada and the US. Serge had his first recording in 1956 and the last of his 7 albums/CDs in 2008. In 2006, Serge's wife Vi passed away. Serge met Electa in 2010 and they made their home and enjoyed life with family and friends in Nelson, B.C., until his passing. He is survived by his sons Ron and Larry and their families, and by his wife Electa Bunce and her family. The family would like to thank the staff at Kootenay Lake District Hospital for their kind and compassionate care over these past few weeks.
