December 8, 1929 - October 6, 2020
On Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020 Signa Olson (nee Menzies) loving Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother and dear friend passed away suddenly.
Signa was born Dec. 8, 1929 in Drumheller, Alberta. She later settled in Nakusp, BC where she married Roy Olson and began her family.
They moved to Castlegar in 1963.
Signa was a loving and caring mother to her 4 sons and 2 daughters.
She had a heart for service and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion auxiliary for 48 continuous years. She donated countless blankets, dishcloths and baby items to support our Health Care system.
Signa had a passion for crocheting, knitting, and selling at craft fairs. Her hands were rarely still. Fun fact - she used to stand up to knit and crochet.
She also enjoyed gardening to provide food for her family and neighbours. A favourite place to find her was the Bingo hall or at a pub with her family playing those lottery tickets. She was very lucky.
Signa went to Hawaii several times with her daughter Denise and her son-in-law Gerry. They had many adventures from what we gathered from the stories they would come home with. She looked so happy in those vacation pictures.
She had several beloved pets over the years. A few were named Christine.
Signa will be lovingly remembered by her children, family and many friends. A small celebration of life will be held at a later date.
