Sue passed away May 21st, 2016 due to complications of lung cancer. Sue was born the 7th of April 1941 in Vancouver. She met Jim Forrest in Ocean Falls, B.C. They married, and her children were born there. In Ocean Falls, Sue and Jim enjoyed an active lifestyle, including hiking, kayaking, trap shooting, softball and photography.
Sue and Jim moved to Castlegar in 1974. Sue took up golf, which she was passionate about for the rest of her life. As usual, when Sue enjoyed something, she got into the organization of it. She started with the Ladies’ Handicap Board, and ended as a Ladies’ Course Rater on the B.C. Provincial Board. She was also active in the Stamp Club and the Castlegar Library.
Sue worked at H&R Block, preparing tax returns until shortly before her death. She was predeceased by her husband Jim, who passed away on the 5th of October, 2015. Sue is survived by her son Douglas, daughter Patricia, her husband Christopher and their children James, Ian and Amanda, as well as Sue’s brother Colin Selbie, sister in law Norma Selbie and their children Mark, Ian and Janice.
A memorial service will be held at the Castlegar Golf Club the 23rd of July at 1:00 p.m. for both Sue and Jim. Donations can be made to the Castlegar Library or the Trail hospital in thanks for their great care of Mom.
