In Loving Memory ~
Fenton - Vasey Charles (Charlie), age 92 passed away in the Slocan Community Health Center, New Denver BC on September 26th, 2023.
He was born in 1931 in Trail BC, son of Charles Edward Fenton and Edith Grace (nee Vasey), brother to the late Dr. Lawrence Fenton (Rondeau Lewis) and Sheila (Richard Wareing), only cousin Brigid Gustafson Walters, and uncle to several nieces and nephews.
He spent his last year and a half in New Denver, British Columbia where he lived with his wife Phyllis Marian (nee Cooper) and close by his daughter Charlotte (Ken Smith).
He is also survived by children Paul (Eva Andre) of Kingston ON, Gordon (Terry Smith) of Halifax, Patrick (Tanis Root) of Calgary and Victoria (Chris Quimby) of Kingston ON, 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Vasey graduated from the University of British Columbia and completed a Masters in Engineering at Carleton University. Vasey and several colleagues formed the firm Adjeleian and Associates, Consulting Engineers, where he was a Senior Associate and Chief Engineer for nearly 50 years. Their firm attracted prestigious contracts such as: most of the Carleton University buildings, several buildings at Ottawa University and at the Ottawa Civic Hospital.
Other buildings included the Place de Ville complex, Les Terraces de la Chaudiere, La Cite in Montreal, the National Arts Center in Ottawa and the Banff Sulphur Mountain Teahouse.
His engineering gene has proved to be strong and has been passed on to six of his children and grandchildren.
