Vera passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side at the Castleview Care Center on Sunday, August 18, 2019, just short of her 91st birthday.
Vera was born in Grand Forks, BC to her parents Mike and Amy Gleboff. She was the oldest and only daughter of four children, all of whom predeceased her. Her three brothers were Bill, Mickey and Wally Gleboff. Her husband Peter passed away on January 29th, 2014.
Vera is survived by her two dauthers, Donna and husband Al Green, Barb and husband Joe Popoff, seven grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Vera grew up in Grand Forks and Ootischenia. She spent her early school years attending Dr. D.A. Perley Elementary School in Grand Forks, and later Kamino School in Ootischenia.
Vera loved looking after her yard and garden in Ootischenia. She was an active member and elder in the Doukhobor Community. She enjoyed singing and working in the Cultural Center with the Lapsha Ladies.
Vera had a strong sense of values. She believed in truth, honour, love and the Daukhobour way of life and passed this on to her children and grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held at the Brilliant Cultural Center on Tuesday, August 27th, 2019, with interment at the Ootischenia Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank Bill Strilaeff and the Castlegar Funeral Chapel staff, Officiant Peter Relkoff, Dr. Larocque and the staff of the Castleview Care Center for their care and support.
