Vera Makaroff passed away peacefully at the Jubilee Manor in Nelson on February 20, 2023.
Vera was born in Shoreacres on May 30, 1931.
Vera was a member of the Independent Order of Doukhobors and enjoyed gardening, cooking, attending Doukhobor functions and hosting family gatherings. Vera was kind, generous and hardworking and valued her family above all else.
In her later years, she enjoyed going for drives, visiting casinos, and sharing meals with her very good friend Mike Plotnikoff .
She is predeceased by Bill, her husband of 42 years, parents Mike and Annie Gretchen and sister Ann Bayoff .
Vera is survived by her four sons, Ray and wife Maxine, Wayne and wife Mareena, Terry and wife Marlene, Peter and wife Jeanette, eight grandchildren, Alecia, Amy, Jeremy, Kimberley, Ivan, Zak, Meghan, and Logan, twelve great-grandchildren and sister Mary Zoobkoff .
We will remember her as a kind and loving mother, grandmother (Baba) and great-grandmother. We miss her and know in our hearts that she is at peace and in God's hands.
