In loving memory ~
It is with great sorrow that the family of Verna McQuarrie (nee Konkin) Streleoff announce the passing of their mother, grandmother, great grandmother in Castlegar, on July 30, 2022.
Verna was born in Pelly Saskatchewan to Fred W. Konkin and Molly F Konkin nee Demoskoff. At the age of 10 months, Verna and her parents moved to the Crescent Valley area where she grew up. Through her childhood and youth, Verna attended school in Crescent Valley as well as worked on their family dairy farm. She enjoyed close family relationships with her sister and large extended family especially her cousins.
Verna settled in Pass Creek, where she and her husband raised a family of 8 children on their farm.
Later years Verna resided in Castlegar and eventually Castleview Care Center when her health declined and where she passed.
Verna had an outgoing social personality and was hospitable. Her coffee pot was always on and her door always open to family and friends. She especially loved her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. She treasured visits, phone calls, and mail from her family.
Verna will be remembered for her big heart, her generosity, her playfulness and creativity. She will be remembered for her love and friendship and true caring about everyone.
She will be remembered for the things she did and loved like flowers, gardening and her green thumb, crocheting doilies, handicrafts, angels, coloring books, reading, music, dancing, laughing and big huge hugs.
