Mom was born in Glade, B.C. on July 16, 1929 to Winnie and Andrew Makonin. She lived most of her life in Glade, until moving to Blueberry in 1990. After the death of her husband, Mike, Mom moved to Stellar Place in Castlegar and then in the last few years she resided in Castlewood Village.
Mom was a very hard worker. She always had a huge garden with lots of vegetables and beautiful flowers. Gardening was her passion and she definitely had a green thumb.
She was an active volunteer for numerous organizations, but the primary one was the Castlegar Hospital Auxiliary.
Mom was a very social person, so had many, many friends. She always had visitors stopping by or she went to visit them, especially if they weren’t feeling well. She would always bring them something to make them feel better, whether it was soup, baking or just friendship. She loved keeping up to date on everything that was happening in people’s lives.
Mom enjoyed a good life with family and friends always nearby. She will be greatly missed. Left to mourn Mom are her children Rick (Susan), Jeannie (Geoff), Don (Cathy), her grandchildren Cameron, Corbin, Keith (Taylor) and April, along with numerous other family members and friends.
