Walter Kenworthy Walter was born in
Eastbourne, England. He had four sisters. He had to learn to be independent at an early age, working by
the time he was fourteen years old. He married Frances Meredith in October,
1939, one month after England entered WWII.
Together they survived intense
bombing on Merseyside and had many humorous and terrifying stories to tell about their experiences during those extremely dangerous times. Their daughter, Nesta was born in 1941.
Walter worked as a driver almost all his life, first driving double-decker buses, and later as a chauffeur for the executive personnel of Unilever.
Passing a strict test, he was awarded the Advanced Driver Licence.
After he retired, Walter and Frances chose to emigrate to Canada, and came to Castlegar to be near their daughter.
Walter was passionate about driving, and all cars, and painstakingly maintained any that came into his charge.
He is sadly missed by his wife Frances, daughter and son-in-law, Nesta and Bill Hale, and grand- daughter, Renata.
He was predeceased by his parents and sisters.
Bill Clark of Castlegar Funeral Chapel was entrusted with arrangements.
The funeral service was held at Castlegar Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, April 14, 2010.
