January 10, 1945 - August 13, 2022
In loving memory ~
With very great sorrow we announce the passing of our dearest wife, mother, and grandmother, Wendy Reid (Gwendolyn Joan Reid) (DeFoe) on August 13, 2022. Wendy was born in Castlegar B.C. on January 10, 1945.
During her school days she loved playing sports and excelled at every sport she played, most notably, basketball, track and field, badminton (B.C. Champion), and later on playing tennis which you would also always find her watching anytime a tournament was broadcast on TV. During her high school years, she met and fell in love with the love of her life, David Reid, and what a magical love and life they shared together. Not only did they become husband and wife they were always each other's best friend and were inseparable, doing everything together.
Wendy worked at Celgar as a receptionist, until she became pregnant with her baby girl, Sandra Reid. Wendy stayed home to raise her 2 children (Brian Reid born 3 years later) and spent many weekends and holidays fishing and camping on Kootenay Lake. When the kids were older she returned to the workforce and enjoyed working many years at Zellers where she made many great friends. On weekends Wendy and Dave would head up to the lake where they lived on their boat, fishing and just enjoying getting away spending time with one another. They loved the lake so much they decided to retire in Kaslo where they have lived ever since.
Wendy loved her vegetable garden where she could be found most mornings. She would then return indoors and begin baking wonderful breads and many desserts. Later in the day, she would enjoy sitting on the back deck relaxing with family and friends sipping a glass of wine or two, laughing and chatting away. We sure miss that loving laugh and beautiful smile.
Left to mourn are her loving husband David, daughter Sandra, son Brian, and her 2 amazing grandchildren Syierra and Keelan whom she loved so dearly. Pre-deceased by her parents Ross and Kate, and sisters Joy, Catherine, and Muriel.
