June 22, 1959 - February 17, 2023
Words cannot express our very heavy hearts as we share the sudden passing of Bill .
Bill leaves behind his wife Nancy, and son Cam (Katie Dergousoff), sisters Carol Koorbatoff and Liz (David) D'Andrea, father-in-law George Turner, sister-in-law Chris (Len) Lewis, brothers-in-law Jim Turner (Brenda) and Doug Turner and their families.
Bill was predeceased by his son Brendan "Basschild" (October 2022), father William (December 2020), mother Lola (January 2023), and mother-in-law Wilma (October 2021).
Bill was born in Castlegar and spent his youth in Kinnaird. As a young man, Bill was always involved in sports including soccer, baseball, waterskiing, golf, and hockey. He played for the Castlegar Rebels and the Rossland Warriors. He loved driving fast cars including his Challenger and Corvette.
He was the drummer for a band that played at many local events and weddings. Soon after graduating high school, Bill began working at the Pulp Mill and worked there for 40 years.
Bill met Nancy and they married in 1984 and made Kinnaird their home. They enjoyed trips to the family property at Norbury, the Bahamas and travelling around the Kootenays, Alberta and BC on their motorcycle. Bill was very involved in SloPitch and was instrumental in the development of the Pass Creek Ball Park. He was also involved in curling, golf, and the Men's Hockey League.
Bill cherished family vacations on the SeaRay and spent many years on the Arrow Lakes boating and camping and teaching his young boys how to fish. When the boys were older he enjoyed camping at swim meets while the boys competed for the Castlegar Aquanauts.
He liked hunting and quadding and was able to take pleasure in spending time up the Slocan Valley with his valley friends in the summer and in retirement.
Bill will be missed by his family and friends. There will be no service as per Bill's wishes. If you wish, as an expression of sympathy, please make a donation in Bill's name to Castlegar and District Hospital Foundation.
May Bill finally find peace and be with his son Bren.
