April 23, 1928 - April 11, 2025

In loving memory ~

William 'Bill' Faasse died April 11, 2025 at the grand old age of 96 years, and 353 days.

Bill was the 7th child of 11 children born to Wilhelmina and Adriaan Faasse who immigrated to Calgary from the Netherlands.

Bill was born in Calgary, Alberta, on April 23, 1928; the family moved to Kelowna shortly after, where Bill and his brothers had many adventures.

Dad worked with a government survey crew in the 1950s when B.C. was building highways. He worked on the Paulson, the Salmo Creston, and the Richter Pass to name a few. While working on the Richter Pass in Osoyoos, he met and married Verle Nixon in 1956.

Once his children were born, he settled down to work for West Kootenay Power and Light Co. in South Slocan, BC. He worked there for 30 years - retired - and drew a pension for 37 years.

He was an engaging and funny storyteller, with an impressive memory for details. He was an easy friend and father to have. His laugh was infectious, and he, the teller enjoyed his stories as much as his listener.

He is survived by Verle, his wife of 68 years; his four children and their spouses, Patti (Alex) Birukow; Heather (Dave) Rush; Tam (Derek) Visser-Faasse; Gord (Kellie) Faasse; eight grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren.

He was a gift, and we will miss him so much.

As the pain of our loss eases, we will remember and treasure the lifetime of moments we enjoyed in his company.
