August 15, 1954 - May 12, 2021
Trekkie, carpenter, nerd, computer whiz, Jack of all trades, hacker extraordinaire.... William J Kabatoff passed away peacefully at a time and place of his choosing, in the Trail Hospital on May the 12th 2021. We, his family surrounded him as he passed and prayed for him to be welcomed home. Hopefully Spock will be available to give a personally guided tour of the afterlife, because Bill would accept nothing less.
Born to Winnie and John Kabatoff on August 15, 1954 he had an adventurous upbringing as any good Kootenay boy does. As a young man, he settled back in the Castlegar area, raised his daughters, went back to school then semi-retired at an enviable age.
Bill crafted an electronics paradise where he helped countless people with their tech issues and stayed in touch by emails filled with interesting videos and jokes that cannot be printed here.
The connections Bill created are treasured by everyone he leaves behind. He was a person who despite having deep hurt in his own life made sure to show love and caring to those close to him. His generosity is not unappreciated and will always be remembered. Bill would always be ready to lend a tool, burn you a mix CD or come rewire your house in its entirety.
Jeans and socks were for ALL weather (even 50 above!) He loved to walk by the river, but you wouldn't find him in it due to him being a sinker rather than swimmer. The health issues he accumulated in the past years took their toll on him. He planned accordingly so he would not see the suffering so many others do with an aggressive cancer.
Bills last wishes were simple, "Put me in a cardboard box! " He spent his last few days making sure things were right in our world and stubbornly refusing medication because he didn't want to bother the nurses. Stubborn right to the end!
His memory will be treasured by friends and family and we wish he had many more years to spend with us. Now to sort out how one man can accumulate so much WIRING!! HOW??!
Oh, and Lord? Friendly warning....this dude has questions!
