January 1, 1944 - January 9, 2023
Winnie was born on January 1, 1944, in Perry Siding, BC to Tim & Polly Ribalkin. Winnie was a woman of grace and generosity with a layer of wit. She was filled with compassion, wisdom, and immeasurable strength unlike anything ever witnessed. She had a passion for gardening which she eagerly shared with anyone of like mind and with a zest for life, she awoke each morning with a purpose. An avid reader, she enjoyed all genres, her latest being John Grisham's legal thrillers. Classical music and movies brought her pleasure as well as a good cup of coffee. Her home was always filled with the scent of something baking or cooking and all that stopped by were welcomed and blessed with her hospitality. In 2012 Winnie became a volunteer at the Hospital Auxiliary Treasure Shop. She found satisfaction in knowing that she was contributing to raising funds for the Castlegar Urgent & Primary Care Centre for needed medical equipment and all other community organizations supported by the Auxiliary. All relationships she formed were kept close to her heart and treasured.
Winnie passed away peacefully on Monday, January 9, 2023, at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital, Trail, BC, surrounded by her loving family.
