LETTER: Thanks for supporting community connection event in Castlegar

The event offered an array of free services and items

Kinnaird Park Community Church would like to express our gratitude to the many folks and businesses who donated towards the Community Connect Day. It was a joyful, successful occasion!

A very special thank you to the Humble Bean owners who donated gift cards for all the families — completely on their own initiative on the day of the event, without ever being asked. Jason Hartleb, Yanive Feiner and Hanna Sandvig spent hours capturing beautiful photos of the kids and families, and mountains of clothing went home with folks.

A special thank you to Cindi at the Red Chair for her willingness to give haircuts.

No Frills, Shoppers’ Drug Mart and Pharmasave helped us put together 20 toiletries bags, handsewn by Marg Ricalton, and the seniors from IRIS donated funds that went to new socks, underwear and an ice cream sundae party! The tasty spread of goodies by Marlene Ostrom brought many smiles.

Christine Chore of IHA did a superb job of offering dental information and Kootenay Family Dental and Mt. Sentinel Chiropractic also partnered in this effort.

I have organized many such events over the years in Castlegar, and always find that I am the fortunate one because I get to witness the open hands and hearts of so many Castlegarians!
