At the end of May we stayed overnight at a Castlegar motel and in the morning asked the desk clerks for directions to Selkirk College. They couldn’t help us. We had come to attend our granddaughter’s graduation, a special event as she was the Valedictorian.
Being in our mid-eighties and having no GPS or cell phone, we became hopelessly lost. Stopping at a petro station for directions, we met a kind senior gentleman who, to our amazement and relief, said, “Follow me and I’ll take you there.” It was miles out of his way, but we arrived in time for the ceremony.
We will always associate Castlegar with this very generous citizen, Mr. Roy Percival, our hero for the day and a credit to your city.
