Where does the tax on natural gas go?

Letter writer seeks clarity in regard to taxes

I see that the provincial government has increased the carbon tax on natural gas. As I do not get answers from the provincial government, only form letters saying that they have appeared on their computer to any email I have sent to them, I ask, through this letter, our MLA if she could find out where all this carbon tax money, paid by the public, is kept and publish the answer in the Castlegar News.

I have a suspicion it might be kept in general revenue and not in any specific account to curb greenhouse gases.

The provincial government always seems to hit the public for money from things we cannot do without.
