On Aug. 12, Castlegar Aquanauts from the past and present came together to celebrate 50 years as a swim club.

The Aquanauts started as a small group in 1967 swimming in the Bob Branson outdoor pool in Kinnaird, and grew from there to reach the milestone of 50 years in the pool.

The day of celebration included a morning breakfast of Eggernauts, a 1/2 mile relay of five teams of eight with people from all five decades, an amazing slide show of 50 years, a BBQ dinner, stories and history told by past coaches and swimmers, and a memory walk filled with priceless treasures, stories and memories that will last another 50 years.

Thank you to all who attended and helped to organize the event.
