Castlegar area athletes brought home some hardware from the 55+ BC Seniors Games last week. The games took place in Victoria Sept. 13 - 17.

In pickleball, Castlegar’s Christine Wayling paired with Nelson’s Tanis Bourchier to win gold in women’s 55-64 doubles.

West Kootenay men’s hockey teams earned two medals.

The Kootenay Glaciers — which includes Castlegar’s Jeff Townsend, Rhys Andrews, Glen Campbell, Allan Ceccon and Dale Donaldson — captured gold in the men’s 60-plus category.

The Kootenay Kings — featuring Castlegar’s Dean MacKinnon, Bill Alexander and Daryl Zibin— took bronze in the men’s 55-plus event.

In men’s 55-plus soccer, the Kootenay United also scored bronze. That team includes Castlegar’s Gordie Clark and Ken Jensen.
