Castlegar Rebels end Nelson Leafs’ winning streak

Castlegar scored 3 unanswered goals in a 4-3 win

The Nelson Leafs’ 12-game winning streak came to an end Friday in Castlegar.

The Rebels opened the game with three unanswered goals and went on to beat the Leafs 4-3.

It was Castlegar’s second win against Nelson in nine meetings this season.

Tyson Lautard, Tyler Pisiak and Joe Davidson each scored for the Leafs (29-10-1), while Tenzin Mint made 17 saves.

Justin Duguay scored twice for Castlegar (15-22-2), while Jacob Moldenhauer and Aidan MacNeill added singles. Rebels goaltender Ethan Lawczynski turned aside 32 shots for the win.

The Rebels finish the regular season with two home games. They play Grand Forks on Feb. 18 and Kimberley on Feb. 19.
