Castlegar Rebels goalie recognized as KIJHL star of the week

Ethan Lawczynski earned three wins for his hometown against Nelson, Grand Forks and Beaver Valley

Castlegar Rebels player Ethan Lawczynski was one of three Kootenay International Junior Hockey League players singled out as stars for the week ending on Nov. 14.

Lawczynski earned three wins for his hometown team against the Nelson Leafs, Grand Forks Border Bruins and Beaver Valley Nitehawks. Along with going 3-0, Lawczynski stopped 91 of 96 shots for a .948 save percentage and a 1.67 goals against average.

Lawczynski had a 36-save performance against the Leafs and 31 versus the Nitehawks. The week of work improved the goalie to four wins and a loss, with a 2.49 goals against average and .932 save percentage for the season.

Kelowna Chiefs’ Spencer Horning and Sicamous Eagles’ Isaac Thomas were also recognized.
