The Castlegar Rebels announced Monday that they’ve signed Cranbrook’s Ryan Bennett for next season.

Bennett is a forward for the Kootenay Ice in the BC Hockey Major Midget League (BCMML). The 15-year-old has recorded seven points in 18 games and has already played his maximum of five affiliate regular season games with the Rebels this season.

“We are extremely excited to have such a talented and young player joining us next season. Ryan’s maturity shows beyond his years through his work ethic, attitude, and responsibility on the ice,” Parker Hickey, assistant general manager, said in a press release.

“For a player to be this capable at both ends of the rink at his age is something very special and a foundation we believe we can build on to create a very strong player in the KIJHL,” he added.

Bennett is the Rebels first commitment for the 2018-19 season.

He is excited about joining the KIJHL next season.

“I’m very excited to commit to the Castlegar Rebels for next season and I am looking forward to playing with such a great organization alongside a group of talented young men,” Bennett said in the release.
