Castlegar Skating Club prepares for regional championships

Watch local skaters on March 11 at 4:30 p.m.

Figure skaters from the Castlegar Skating Club have been busy practicing and placing the final touches on their programs as they prepare for the Kootenay Region Championships this weekend in Creston.

Skaters will compete in events such as freeskate solo, artistic program, and elements, as well as a fun group performance.

The competition will select skaters for the Kootenay regional team which will compete at the STARSkate Super Series Final in Kelowna in March. Coaches Rachel Stewart, Ashley Ross, Jordyn Eberts and Zoey Crockart have been working with skaters both on and off ice.

Skaters competing this weekend are Akaya Pacheco, Sara Hurd, Anaya Molitwenik, Kailee Stewart, Kaetlyn Hartleb, Aydenn Batchelor, Anastasia Salekin, Rebecca Metcalfe, Carmen Glover, Stella LePage, Lea Kooznetsoff, Hailey Gleboff, Jordan Singer, Sarah Cousins and Allison Soukeroff.

The community will have an opportunity to watch local skaters on March 11 at 4:30 p.m. for their year-end show, Welcome to the Movies.
