On Saturday, March 24 and Sunday, March 25, the Five Pin Bowling Regional Qualifier for the Special Olympics was held at Glenmerry Bowl in Trail. A total of 15 teams from Castlegar, Trail, Nelson, Grand Forks, Cranbrook and Elk Valley took part.
The team of Sandrelle Fraser, Rachel Gurwald, Lara Chernenkoff, Samantha Garbutt and Frankie Cook bowled over their average in all six games over the two days finishing at +516 pins over their team average. Finishing in second was the Trail #2 team at +390 followed by Nelson #2 at +236. The second Castlegar team of Garry Anderson, Mike Bruce, Al Cummings, Fred Crerar and Matthew Welychko finished 10th with +37.
