It was a perfect ending to a great regular season for Castlegar’s U11 Junior Rebels Team 2 (Ice Hawks) after bringing home the West Kootenay U-11 Pool ‘A’ banner. Castlegar defeated Nelson 5-2 to earn their champion title after an undefeated, hard-fought weekend of hockey.

In the battle for first, Griffin Cordeiro started the scoring off half way through the first period followed by three unanswered goals from Sam Carew, Kelsler Barclay and River Benbow. Nelson scored near the end of the second period to make it 4-1. Griffin Cordeiro had his second goal of the game in the third with a final score of 5-2. Quinn Hooper had a solid performance with 27 shots on goal for a SV% of 92.5. Game MVP was Cash Parker.

“The Icehawks would like to thank their outstanding coaching staff, parents, siblings and extended family for their unwavering support and dedication throughout the season,” says the team’s management.
