This season was one of tremendous growth for the U11 (Atoms) Castlegar Junior Rebels Team 3, according to the team’s management.

The team had a very consistent season leading into the playoffs and finished the season with a fourth place standing.

The first game of the playoffs on March 12 saw the first win for the team. They came out ahead with a 6-4 score against Grand Forks. The next morning they saw a massive win against the number one seeded team, Trail 1 with a final score of 6-3.

After a hard loss later in the day, the kids came back on the final day of the playoffs ready to compete in the semi-finals. It was a nail biter of a match against Nelson 1. The Junior Rebels scored the tie goal that took the game into overtime. After a quick goal from Nelson, the team finished in third place.

“These games were truly a team effort and the kids left everything on the ice at the end,” said Atom’s management.

“We are so proud of this awesome group of kids and want to thank their coaches, Jason Quiding, Curtis Posnikoff and Jeff Hardy for all they have done this season. A special mention goes to Scott McIntosh for being a great safety guy and keeping the kids organized on the bench.”
