Two overtime games, two overtime winners.
Jesse Knowler played hero again for the Castlegar Rebels Friday, potting his second game-winning goal of the Kootenay Conference quarter-final in a 2-1 victory in Spokane.
Knowler, who scored the Game 2 winner in dramatic fashion Tuesday night, scored his third deciding goal in only his eighth appearance (regular season and playoffs combined) as a Rebel, as Castlegar moved one step closer to the second round.
The two teams played over two periods of shutout hockey after Castlegar’s Ryan Aynsley and Spokane’s Jesse Collins exchanged first period markers.
Rebels netminder Cole Buckley made 38 saves in his first start of the series, while the Braves’ Garrett Barr made 38 of his own in a losing effort.
Castlegar can close out the series in Sunday’s Game 5 (5 p.m., Complex), while a Spokane victory would force a Game 6 Monday night in Washington state.
