Nevakshonoff picks up loss against Dawgs

The winning streak is over for the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack baseball team. The ‘Pack’s three game streak was halted Friday night (Mar 30) at Norbrock Stadium. Thompson Rivers lost to the defending Canadian College Baseball Conference champion Prairie Baseball Academy Dawgs (Lethbridge) 7-3.  The WolfPack are now 4 and 3 on the season.  The Dawgs move to 4 and 1.

The over 300 fans in attendance saw the Dawgs score ones in the first three innings and added two more in sixth and seventh innings.   TRU scored once in the first, third and fifth innings.

Alex Regan (LHP, Calgary, AB) was the winning pitcher. He went six innings, giving up three hits, three runs, walking three and striking out 10.   Travis Nevakshonoff (RHP, Castlegar, BC) took the loss. He went five and a third innings giving up eight hits, five runs, seven walks and struck out three.

Luke Berry (DH, Swift Current, SK) was the big man at the plate  for PBA with two runs batted in and going  1 for 3.  Centerfielder Bretton Gouthrow (Calgary, AB) was two for five at the plate with a run scored.

TRU was led by David Hole.  The catcher from Vancouver, BC was two for three with two runs batted in.  Brent Carmichael (Centerfield, Victoria, BC) was one fof four with a run scored.

The two teams will play again Sunday (April 1) at 9:30 am at Norbrock Stadium.

PBA will meet Okanagan College Coyotes in a doubleheader Saturday (Mar 31) at Norbrock.
