Things were not looking good for the Castlegar Rebels during Saturday home game against the Golden Rockets. The Rebs found themselves down 3-0 after a weak wrist shot from the point from Brett Defrias got past struggling netminder Connor Beauchamp.

Castlegar buckled down in the second, though, tying the score with three consecutive goals from Diego Bartlett, Kody Disher and Riley Ostoforoff.

The teams traded goals in the third period with Connor Beauchemin scoring both for Golden. Bryan Lubin tied the score at 4-4 for Castlegar at 16:11 of the third. Beachemin put Golden up 5-4 with a power play goal a minute and a half later. Bartlett got the tying goal for Castlegar at 12:58 with his second goal of the game, a power play marker assisted by captain Erik Alden and assistant captain Stuart Walton.

Beauchamp finished with 41 saves on 47 shots.

The Rebs are back in action Tuesday with a rare mid-week home game against the improved Grand Forks Border Bruins.

On Wednesday, Castlegar travel to Nelson to play the league leading Leafs in their final game before the Christmas break.
