Rebels fall to BV, go down 3-1 in series

The Castlegar Rebels lost to the Beaver Valley Nitehawks 5-2 on Saturday night at the Castlegar Complex. The win gives the 'Hawks at commanding 3-1 lead in the best of seven Neil Murdoch division final.

Diego Bartlett put the Rebs up 1-0 early before young superstar Craig Martin of BV scored two power play goals giving the visitors a 2-1 edge. Nick Perez put the Hawks up 3-1 midway through the second.

Castlegar made a push in the third when Braydon Horcoff scored to bring the Rebs to within one. A power play goal from Beaver Valley's Arie Postmus put the game away for BV at 8:33 of the third. Ryan Edwards scored into an empty net late in the game to make the final score 5-1.

Beaver Valley outshot the Rebels 37-25.

The teams return to Fruitvale for game six on Monday night.

On Friday, Castlegar won game three by a 3-2 score.
