Rebels to battle Ghostriders in Kootenay final

The Castlegar Rebels will face off against the Fernie Ghostriders Monday night in the first game of the KIJHL's Kootenay Conference final, with Game 3 and Game 4 set for the Castlegar Complex this Thursday and Saturday.

The Castlegar Rebels will face off against the Fernie Ghostriders Monday night in the first game of the KIJHL's Kootenay Conference final, with Game 3 and Game 4 set for the Castlegar Complex this Thursday and Saturday.

The Ghostriders secured their spot in the conference final with 3-1 victory over the Creston Valley Thunder Cats on Saturday, giving the Fernie squad that series in seven games.

The Rebels had been awaiting their Kootenay opponent since last Thursday, after dispatching the Beaver Valley Nitehawks in five games.

The Ghostriders just edged out the Rebels in total points during the regular season, finishing with a 42-5-0-3 record and earning the top seed in the conference. The Rebels finished the regular season with a 42-8-0-0 record, setting the highest mark ever for wins in club history.

Game 3 of the conference final starts at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Castlegar Complex and Game 4 is set for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Tom Campbell, vice-president of the Castlegar Hockey Society, said there will be guaranteed 50/50 pots of $1,000 at both of those home games.
