Rebels win big over GF at home

The Castlegar Rebels defeated Grand Forks 6-1 at home in their last home game before the Christmas break.

The Castlegar Rebels defeated Grand Forks 6-1 at home in their last home game before the Christmas break.

The game was close early, with Darren Medeiros opening the scoring for the Rebels with a booming slap shot from just over the blue line at 13:07 of the first period.

Jakob Jeske tied the game for the Border Bears shortly after with a nice deke at 12:06 of the first.

Rebels veteran forward Kody Disher got the game winner with a one timer off a great feed from Aaron Petten at 3:12 of the first period.

Bryan Lubin scored the only goal of the second period, scoring a power play marker to put the Rebs up 3-1.

Castlegar put the game away in third with goals from Brenden Heinrich, Diego Bartlett and Dylan Bowerman all scoring.

Connor Beauchamp picked up the win in goal for Castlegar, stopping 19 shots.

The Rebels play in Nelson tomorrow against the Leafs in their last game before the Christmas break.
