Members of the Selkirk College Saints hockey team stopped by the Castlegar Fire Department earlier this week to drop off a sack full of teddy bears collected at their Nov. 10 game against the Trinity Western University Spartans that featured a Teddy Bear Toss where fans had a chance to throw the stuffies on the ice after a goal.

The players also presented Fire Chief Sam Lattanzio with a cheque for $180 that will be part of a larger donation to Castlegar’s Harvest Food Bank.

The Saints will finish the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League (BCIHL) first semester on the road next weekend when they take on the University of Victoria Vikes and Vancouver Island University Mariners.

The next home games at the Castlegar & District Recreation Complex is set for Jan. 12 and 13 when Trinity Western University will come to town.
