A mix of sun and cloud and a visit from a friendly troll made a great weekend for more than 160 cross-country skiers on Sunday.

The annual Trolloppet, held by the Sons of Norway lodge and the Castlegar Nordic Ski Club, was held on the weekend at Mud Lake.

The day consisted of five races — ranging from 10 kiometres to 40 kilometres for adults, while kids went for two kilometres.

All skiers started in their age groups and picked the length they wanted to race, letting everyone enjoy the day at their own pace.

Travis Hauck had the best time for the 40k-kilometre race at three hours and one minute.

It was a great turnout for the nordic club, which is the second largest in B.C. with around 800 members.
