Castlegar Minor Hockey hosted a U11 tournament over the last weekend in January.

Ten teams, including two from Castlegar, participated in the tournament. The tournament was divided into Pool A and Pool B.

Both Castlegar teams were undefeated moving forward to Sunday games. When each of them won their first games on Sunday, they were then destined to face each other in the finals.

“This was yet again a great game to watch,” said Ryanna McIntosh, Castlegar Rec 2 Team Manager. “These kids are one big group of friends doing what they love. Playing hockey and having fun.”

The teams battled back and forth, with some great plays being made.

In the end, Castlegar Rec 1 won gold with a 5-1 finish. Castlegar Rec 2 won silver.

“I would like to acknowledge this amazing group of U11 kids,” added McIntosh. “Both teams are very skilled and strong. Their dedication to the sport and their teams shines through. This would not be the case without the amazing group of coaches we have on both teams. These coaches and volunteers show up to the ice to teach, support and most of all have fun with our kids. This has been a great year of hockey for Castlegar’s U11 division.”
