The Slocan Valley Co-op is asking area residents to “fill up and fuel good” during a fundraising event on Tuesday, Sept. 19.

As part of Fuel Good Day, 10 cents from every litre of fuel sold at the Slocan Valley Co-op Gas Bar and the Castlegar Cardlock will be donated to the Slocan Valley Food Cupboard and the Castlegar Community Harvest Food Bank.

Co-op board members will be on hand at the Slocan location to wash windshields and pump gas.

Co-op general manager Chris Sapriken explained that the event is a combined promotion through Federated Co-operatives.

“We hope that the more people who come out — the more that we can end up making a contribution, since it is all based on the litres we sell,” said Sapriken. “The idea behind it being that we do what we can to be able to provide more back to local organizations.”
