Patricia passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends after a brief battle with cancer. Born in St. John’s Newfoundland, Patricia was the only child of Ernest Augustus and Ingeborg Steinbrink. After graduating with a Bachelor of Education from Memorial University, Patricia moved to Victoria, BC in 1986 to pursue her passion for coaching rowing as a member of the inaugural class of the National Coaching Institute. She continued her pursuit of higher education by completing a Masters Degree in Sport Psychology at the University of Victoria while at the same time beginning her affiliation with Brentwood College School.

While at Brentwood, Patricia served as the Languages Department Head, Head of Girls Rowing and Housemistress; she was a valued teacher, coach, house parent, mentor and colleague. Patricia excelled at instilling confidence in young people, in the classroom, in sport and in the broader community. Her sparkle, wonderful laugh and caring nature will be missed by all.

More recently, Patricia returned to her musical roots and joined Ensemble Laude Choir from Victoria, an interest that especially inspired her. Patricia always enjoyed gatherings with family and friends, loved to cook and decorate her home, which was her sanctuary.

The joys of Patricia’s life were her husband Kurt and her daughter Stefanie, family vacations, volleyball tournaments, regattas, music, Germany and her many friends. Patricia is survived by Kurt and Stefanie and her mother, Ingeborg.

A Celebration of Life for Patricia is taking place on February 15, 2015 at Crooks Hall, Brentwood College School at 2:00 PM, doors open at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, it was Pat’s wish that donations be made to Ensemble Laude.
