To mark the end of the Kootenay Festival held Saturday at Millennium Park, Castlegar Hospice hosted The Hopes & Wishes Floating Lantern Release.
In appreciation of the day and to show hope for the future, floating biodegradable lanterns were released into the Columbia River below the Millennium Ponds.
Lanterns were available at the Castlegar Hospice festival booth and people were invited to put their own message on their lantern before it was released.
