Peter Kavaloff was born February 28th, 1932 in Crescent Valley, BC to parents Pete and Mary Kavaloff. He was the eldest of the four children – Elaine, Betty, and Cecil. He was raised in Champion Creek, BC where he attended school. It is with deep sadness we announce that Peter passed away peacefully in Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital on January 27th, 2017.

Peter married Verna the love of his life on April 20th 1954. He started working at Cominco where he worked for 30 years. They had their first child – Bonny. Blueberry Creek is where they built their 12x24 mansion and lived for six years where their child Iline was born. They later built the family home, which they lived in for 36 years where their son Karl was born. When Pete and Verna wanted a change, they moved to Ootischenia, where they lived for 27 years.

Peter enjoyed fishing and gardening and whatever else the ‘Big Boss’ directed him to do. He took great love and pride of his family, especially all his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his smile, laugh, love, storytelling, and his jokes. As Peter always said “no me boy” and “porka maseleya.” Peter always gave good advice and had the ability to sum up whatever situation with just a few simple words. Peter will always live in our hearts with great love.

Peter will be greatly missed by his wife, Verna, daughters, Bonny (Sid) and Iline, and son, Karl (Deanna). Also, by his seven beloved grandchildren Sidney (Ana-Maria), Andy, Michael, Jonathon, Amanda, Kyle, Colton, four great grandchildren, sisters, Elaine Planidin and Betty Semenoff, and brother, Cecil (Pat) Kavaloff, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Peter is predeceased by his mother (Mary Kavaloff) father (Pete Kavaloff), brothers-in-law (Pete Planidin & Steve Semenoff), sister-in-law (Debbie Kavaloff) and his in-laws (Katie Pictin and Mike Pictin).

The family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Wilson, the nurses of Kootenay Boundary Hospital, the paramedics, and the home-care nurses that supported Peter.

Castlegar Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.

Loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son ~ forever in our hearts.
