Castlegar men’s curling league wraps up season with playoffs

Culter Rink wins A Event

Submitted by Castlegar Curling Club

The last week of March was the playoffs for the Castlegar men’s curling league. This year the Castlegar club hosted a number of rinks from Nelson as their club was shut down for the year. Of the 24 teams that played all year, 15 entered the playoffs.

The finals were well contested. All were close games where the eventual winners slowly pulled away in the last few ends. The A final was tied going into the last end and came down to the skip rocks to decide it.

In the A final, Rick Cutler’s Monday rink from Nelson came out on top against Roger May’s Wednesday rink. The Rob Trickey rink beat Roger May’s Monday rink in the B finals and in the C event, Stew Higgin’s rink defeated the Myron Nicol rink. Because all four events were played simultaneously, in the D event, Team Culter Wednesday was already scheduled to play in the A event and had to default to the Bill van Yzerloo rink.

Congratulations to all who participated and to the champions.
