Castlegar’s Dam City Rollers defeated Nelson’s Lumber Jackies earlier this month to secure third place in the league standings, sending them to semi-finals next month.

The 2011 West Kootenay BC Seniors games will feature many varied sports both familiar and unfamiliar. One of the sports that will be hosted in Castlegar that many people may not be familiar with is floor curling.

The Castlegar Aquanauts summer swim team have been working hard preparing for their home meet which is coming up this weekend, July 16 and 17.

The West Kootenay Wolf Pack Midget C lacrosse team (in the white jerseys) took on the Midget B team (in the dark jerseys) at the Castlegar Complex on Wednesday last week.

The U15 Castlegar All Stars were the league division champs and the year-end playoff tournament was held in Beaver Valley in June. In the gold medal game on June 19 the All Stars lost 1-0 to Rossland.

Tennis is expected to be a hub of activity for participants in the BC Seniors Games, with athletes competing in both Castlegar and Trail.

The KSYSA U12 Girls – Lightning won the gold medal in Kelowna this weekend in the Canada Day Tournament.

Baseball fields all over Castlegar will be invaded by slo-pitch teams looking for gold during the BC Seniors Games in mid-August.

There were 42 Aquanauts who competed in Creston over the weekend to help the team to second overall behind Trail, again.

Registration is now open for a week-long camp aimed at hockey players serious about improving their game for next season.
